Co-ops are a great solution for reforming antiquated and harmful systems. For example, when Wendy Holm purchased a property in Fanny Bay, she was surprised to find it had a water bottling license/operation in place. As an ardent opposer to water extraction schemes, her first instinct was to shut it down. However, after realizing that her neighbours depended on this water, she chose to apply her co-op expertise to develop a model that could not only safeguard this precious resource, but also be replicated by government for responsible water managment.
